Al Wusta road projects exceed RO 120m

HAIMA: The total cost of road maintenance and construction projects being implemented by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology in Al Wusta Governorate has exceeded RO 120 million.


The projects are part of the ministry’s efforts to develop the road network, improve its efficiency and enhance traffic safety.


Asphalt road maintenance works are ongoing across the governorate at a cost of approximately RO 6.004 million, covering a total length of 1,244 kilometres. The works aim to maintain the efficiency of the road network and improve safety for road users.


In the construction sector, the ministry is continuing work on the project to complete a 58-kilometre section of Sultan Said bin Taimur Road north of Haima, at a cost of RO 44 million. The project is scheduled for completion within 24 months.


Work is also progressing on Phase Three of the Sultan Said bin Taimur Road project, covering 124.5 kilometres at a cost of RO 70 million. The project has reached 23 per cent completion and is scheduled to be completed within three years.


The projects form part of the ministry’s plans to develop and enhance the efficiency and sustainability of the road network in Al Wusta, improve connectivity between its wilayats, support economic and development activities, facilitate transport and mobility, and enhance road safety and traffic flow. - ONA
